United States Attorney Alison J. Ramsdell has announced that Jerrod Fallis, a 47-year-old resident of Harrold, South Dakota, was sentenced to six months in federal prison. This sentence comes after Fallis was convicted for Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person. The sentencing occurred on July 21, 2025, under U.S. District Judge Eric C. Shulte.

In addition to his prison term, Fallis will undergo three years of supervised release and must pay a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund. The court also ordered the forfeiture of the firearm and silencer found in his possession.

The conviction stems from an incident on December 8, 2023, when officers conducted a traffic stop on Fallis’s vehicle. During the search, they discovered a Rock River Arms AR15 rifle, silencer, and methamphetamine paraphernalia. Due to prior state felony drug convictions, Fallis is prohibited from possessing firearms.

This case falls under Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), which aims to reduce violent crime and gun violence through collaboration between law enforcement agencies and communities. The Department launched an enhanced violent crime reduction strategy for PSN on May 26, 2021.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Hyde County Sheriff’s Office investigated this case with Assistant U.S. Attorney Meghan Dilges handling prosecution duties.

Fallis has been remanded into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service.
