Honduran man sentenced to time served for illegal reentry after deportation

A Honduran national, Pedro Perez-Murillo, was sentenced for illegal reentry after deportation in Rapid City. U.S. District Judge Camela C. Theeler delivered the sentence of time served on February 23, 2026.

Perez-Murillo, age 41, had been indicted by a federal grand jury in September 2025 and pleaded guilty to the charge on October 31, 2025. According to court records, Perez-Murillo has been deported from the United States three times before, with his last removal occurring in 2019. Authorities discovered him back in the country in September 2025. Reentering the United States after being deported is classified as a felony.

The investigation was conducted by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Assistant U.S. Attorney Benjamin Schroeder prosecuted the case.
