United States Attorney Alison J. Ramsdell announced that a Mexican national has been sentenced for illegal reentry after deportation. U.S. District Judge Camela C. Theeler delivered the sentence on July 23, 2025.

Francisco Jimenez-Grijalva, aged 31, received a sentence of time served and will be removed from the United States. He was indicted by a federal grand jury in May 2025 and pleaded guilty on June 6, 2025.

Jimenez-Grijalva, who is not a U.S. citizen, was deported to Mexico in 2015 but was found back in the U.S. in May 2025 following an arrest for DUI in Pennington County. It was discovered he had been deported three times previously, with reentry after deportation classified as a felony.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America, which aims to combat illegal immigration and eliminate cartels and transnational criminal organizations while protecting communities from violent crime. The initiative utilizes resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).

The investigation was conducted by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Immigration and Customs Enforcement, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Benjamin Schroeder prosecuting the case.

Jimenez-Grijalva has been remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
